To begin Salads, What are they? what can be classified as a salad? Google says, “a cold dish of various raw or cooked vegetables, usually seasoned with oil, vinegar, or other dressing and sometimes accompanied by meat, fish, or other ingredients.” Is this true? It can be, by this definition, any vegetable cooked or raw is a salad, my plate of green beans would be a salad. I would disagree, rather a salad is, “An artistic and tasty collection of raw vegetables occasionally seasoned with a dressing or meat such as chicken or fish.” For instance, a chicken and potato caesar salad includes a base of lettuce with cucumbers cooked potatoes, and chicken with a light caesar dressing on top. This is a tasty and artistic mixture of lettuce and cucumber including potato chicken and caesar dressing. It matches all the requirements in my definition, therefore, it is a salad. So when making a salad make sure it fits the definition of salad in the first place.
